Scoring the Clubs
The Optical Lounge and Audio Lab
at 8601 Wilshire Boulevard.
Create:Fixate, an arts collective dedicated to reconciling the aural and visual arts as a delicacy akin to chocolate cheesecake, reaches the two-year watermark with the watershed of its much-anticipated bimonthly art action, “The Optical Lounge & Audio Lab.” Like so many Cavity Creeps making holes in teeth, Create:Fixate founder Michelle Berc punches holes in the decay borne of artistic apathy, presenting group exhibitions side-by-side with multimedia extroversions. This evening’s anniversary exposes a plethora of visual artists, including Jason Macaya, David Grey and New York shutterbug Andrew Einhorn (whose impenetrably themed book, Naked Happy Girls, will be available). Live painting plays out frenetically/pastorally behind musical luminaries Liza Richardson (KCRW), poetry summoned forth verily by the PoetS of the Round Table (MikethepoeT, PhillharmoniC, Stricke-9), the Polyrhythmic creative brainstrust (with laptop pop), live sax from John Juster, Pieter K, RD from ELM (the cooperative, not the street), and Frosty from Dublab. 8601 Wilshire Blvd., Ninth Floor, Beverly Hills; 7pm-2am; $7, $5 before 10pm (323)466-5141 or visit www.createfixate.com.
