the evening’s theme. The one-night only art exhibit, complete
with a diverse one-of-a-kind musical soundtrack, will take place at
its new Hollywood location at 1530 Ivar Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90028.

the local community for its preview show from 4:00pm – 7:00pm,
to further encourage the pursuit of art and to showcase the organizations’
upcoming high school arts program entitled “8 Sundays.”
Starting in March 2007, “8 Sundays” will feature speakers
interacting with and mentoring high school students interested in exploring
careers in the arts. There will be a raffle and silent auction
of work donated by artist Ted Vancleave and all proceeds will benefit

Thirty-five visual artists will be featured in this special anniversary
event. Fine artist, Gabriel Rivera creates paintings
that are an amalgam of the town he grew up in (LA) and are essentially
landscapes of the urban scenery, its city walls, advertisements, graffiti
and layers of metropolitan life. Through the shape-shifting medium
of collage and assemblage, Los Angeles-based artist, Darrah
Danielle, explores the ancient art of storytelling. And
painter Ty Bennett, a modern surrealist, creates images
that challenge religion, philosophy, and humanity with playful, penetrating,
symbolism; obscure as it is illuminating.
As always, a portion of the Create:Fixate experience will include “live
art.” Mear One, whose career has spanned from
the graffiti landscape to the museum world will create sellable artwork
all night long. Brian Tortora, known for transforming
familiar objects into sonic percussive instruments and inviting participants
to get actively involved in rhythmically crushing his sculptures in
their own symphony, will do just that. Utilizing live camera feeds and
triggering original digital video clips along with multi shape and multi
level custom screens, Puzz:e Piece brings a unique
visual experience to each installation. Screen-printed images on clothing
are a familiar sight, yet the process remains a mystery to most.
HIT+RUN brings live T-shirt screen-printing to the
public. And painter Linda Carmella Sibio will
engage the audience in a “Portrait-A-Thon.”
The musical component of the evening, dubbed ‘Audio Lab’
is as rich as the visual tapestry, known as ‘The Optical Lounge.”
International techno producer/artist/DJ John Tejada
joins the roster of talent for the anniversary party hot on the heels
of his own anniversary. His successful Palette Recordings celebrates
10 years and over 40 releases this fall. Live bands for the night
include Hunkamama, an all-woman, four piece, rock/funk
band with a sound described as, "Led Zeppelin smashed up with Aretha
Franklin." And Letting Up Despite Great Faults
is an indie/electronic outfit with a seamless mix of acoustic instruments,
electronic drums and analog sounds all intertwined with understated
and whispery vocals. Also, on the “live” side of aural
pleasures, Mike the Poet brings his intricate wordplay
to the mix. The night is ripe with amazing DJs such as Tony
Watson, a hard working talent responsible for some of the best
house parties in LA’s history.
As an additional element, Create:Fixate's sponsor, the keshot corporation,
will generously supply two keshot photo booths for the evening. The
keshot is a kiosk that instantly records videos and pictures of the
user, and allows the user to send the images via e-mail instantly to
any email address worldwide.
PHFE Management Solutions (PHFE) helps to provide a comprehensive administrative
and fiscal structure for Create:Fixate’s nonprofit division.

artists in a unique environment. Usually, every two months, Create:Fixate
founder Michelle Berc curates, produces and hosts these
stunning group art shows that present creative people from around the
globe with an emphasis on the local talent of Los Angeles. Awe-inspiring
painters, photographers, sculptors, and multi-media artists exhibit
alongside an equally impressive array of Los Angeles' finest DJs and
musicians. Each event's aural artists are poised to create a soundtrack
for the night that transforms this from a simple 'art show' into the
city's most anticipated Art Event.

Cary Sullivan
Cary Sullivan is a multi-talented photographer, producer and talent
consultant whose career has traversed the music, art and culture landscape.
With experience that ranges from organizing festivals in Africa to producing
progressive radio in Los Angeles, Sullivan currently promotes a weekly
nightclub/happening at Zanzibar in Santa Monica, CA called Afro Funke'.
Sullivan has utilized her arresting photographs to define Afro Funke's
visual essence in the cutting edge series of flyers created to promote
the club. Sullivan shot these photographs over many years traveling
throughout West Africa. She likes the "fly on the wall" approach
and has focused on Ghana, capturing everything from traditional rituals
to the modern urban existence. When speaking of her photography, Sullivan
believes she is a student of life who loves to share her experiences
with others. She is also grateful for the humility that comes from spending
a long time in such a truly amazing place such as Africa.
Chase
Chase, artist-designer and Belgium transplant, keeps busy painting murals
in the public domain that are designed to inspire uplifting conversations
with self or with others. Chase’s messages range from “Remember
Who You Are”, “We Are All One” and “Send Love
In Response To Hate”, and can be found in the streets of Los Angeles
to as far as Berlin.
Christina Pierson
Inspired by her childhood wonderment in discovering tiny details in
nature, Christina Pierson gravitates to the ephemeral qualities of the
world: the shimmer of a dewdrop, the iridescent reflection of floating
bubbles, or the scintillation of moonlight dancing across water. Her
fascination with these tiny facets of nature continues today with an
inquiry into how these minutia relate to each other and what role they
play in the larger picture of life. In her most recent body of
work, Pierson creates luminous pieces to visually symbolize the significance
of the subtleties she observes in nature and to recreate their ephemeral
attributes. She designs a blueprint for each piece derived from Fibonacci’s
sequence and the Golden Ratio, mathematical constructs governing phenomena
as diverse as the seed growth pattern of a sunflower to the shape of
our galaxy, to represent the interconnectedness of these infinitesimal
components in nature and the universe.
Darrah Danielle
Through the shape-shifting medium of collage and assemblage, Los Angeles-based
artist, Darrah Danielle, explores the ancient art of storytelling.
Whether buried in a stack of abandoned ephemera or forgotten in a scrap
metal yard filled with debris, it is the discarded remnants of day-to-day
living that she finds raw and appealing. A metamorphosis occurs as these
fragments are transformed into petit bodies of myth that sing the heart.
Erik Abel
After several years spent absorbing life in the Northwest while he lived
in and around Portland, Oregon, Erik Abel decided in 2005 to return
to Southern California to take part in the area’s swelling art
scene.
Being heavily influenced by and involved in the surf/skate/snow industry,
and working as a freelance graphic designer for over 10 years, Abel‘s
method of bold, graphical imagery fused with his loose brush and pen
work seems to find a small corner of its own in the art world.
Elements from inspirations such as ancient civilizations, cycles of
nature, plants, symbols, icons, and politics systematically weave their
way throughout Abel’s work. Unique imagery combined with
a natural eye for visual harmony gifts Abel’s work with an easily
recognizable and fresh style.
Francis Poland
Francis Poland arrived in Los Angeles five years ago after having studied
graphic design in Warsaw. In a country so culturally different from
her own she found immediate inspiration in her new surroundings.
In her work she explores different techniques including photography,
painting, collage, etc. Her work combines aspects of popular culture
with those of simple everyday life. Sometimes you’ll also
witness a very personal time travel to the images from her past. Through
the use of bold color and striking compositions, her art aims to capture
the exceptional in the mundane.
Gabriel Rivera
Gabriel Rivera is a fine artist who was born and raised in Los Angeles,
California. His paintings are an amalgam of the town he grew up in and
are essentially landscapes of the urban scenery, its city walls, advertisements,
graffiti and layers of metropolitan life. He is notorious for
using just about anything to create his work - paint, pencils, charcoal,
oil sticks, old clothing, chalk, brushes, dirt, the soles of his shoes
- and works almost entirely with canvases laying on the floor. Rivera
has spent the last year working exclusively on small-scale paper pieces
for a book documenting 365 days of his artistic production. More recently
he has returned to canvas and is currently producing a new body of large-scale
work for a corporate real estate project in Century City slated for
a Summer 2007 opening. Rivera will also be attending an artist-in-residence
program for two months in New York City at the end of 2007.
Gary Palmer
Gary Palmer was born in Belfast in 1968. After graduating with an MA
in Architecture from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1992,
he traveled around the world as a street-painter and his anamorphic
perspective drawings were commissioned by festivals in Europe, America,
and Australia. The current distillations are abstract interpretations
of traditional modes of painting such as landscape, portrait and figure.
Palmer’s work has been shown at The Ulster Museum, Belfast, the
LA International, Los Angeles, Venice Art Walk, and Gallery C, Hermosa
Beach, CA.
Hagop Belian
Through his collection of doors and windows, Hagop Belian evokes the
exploration of “paths of life,” turning found objects into
representations of the roads the artist has taken. From Armenian descent,
Hagop was born and raised in Syria until his early teens, he then moved
to the United States where he earned a BA in mathematics at UC Santa
Cruz. Currently Hagop is living in Venice Beach where he continues
to work through his intuition, using his surroundings as inspiration
and materials for his work. Always looking for that thread that leads
to creativity.
Ian O'Phelan
Ian O'Phelan (b. 1982, a Pisces) hails from Toledo, OH. He graduated
from the University of Cincinnati, where he pursued a Frankenstein curriculum
of fine art and graphic design classes. O'Phelan's work mines the past
for stories and imagery that find resonance in the culture and news
of the present day. Connecting this sometimes-divergent exploration
is a consuming love of drawing, manifest in his meticulous use of line.
Jorge Oswaldo Aguirre Jr.
Intrigued by self-adhesive vinyl as a material, Aguirre meticulously
uses it as the vehicle for his most recent artwork. Building layer upon
layer of various colorful designs onto plexiglass, he creates a marvelous
depth in these explosive, 3-dimensional explorations of shallow space.
He maintains that the self-adhesive vinyl, which is the same material
that businesses use for their storefront signs, posts an interesting
dynamic. A “sign” can be defined as an act or gesture used
to convey an idea, a desire, information, or a command; while another
meaning of a “sign” can function as an indicator, a trace,
or footprint like a style of that of an artist. His relentless desire
for excellent craftsmanship, carefully chosen colors, and visual surprises
are just some of the trademark elements that comprise Jorge Aguirre’s
style.
Julie Rasmussen
Born and raised in Southern California, Julie Rasmussen has been painting,
creating and involved in the arts for as long as she can remember...
Most known for her contemporary acrylic work on canvas, she has recently
gotten much notice for her mixed-media work on wood. Each wood piece
she creates reflects the memories of her childhood in the 70’s
and what were once very carefree times. Along with being a full time
artist she recently started her own business promoting art galleries
and events. She also sits on the board at Barnsdall Art Park in Hollywood
and helps run a gallery in Downtown Los Angeles.
Kazuhiro Tabuchi
Kazu Tabu is a passionate illustrator emerging from the Los Angeles
art scene. His work delves deep into the mysteries of the world and
explores the bottomless abyss of thoughts and dreams. His ideas spring
from beliefs rooted in his Japanese heritage, which believes that all
things possess a spirit of their own. This spirit makes his surreal
paintings come alive and allows people to ponder on the spiritual world
that we live in. He currently pursues his career as an editorial illustrator
mainly dealing with political, social and environmental issues and wishes
to remind people of their spiritual nature.
Kristian Olson
After studying design at the University of California at Los Angeles,
and an eight-year career as a freelance graphic designer, Kristian Olson
has returned to his first love of fine art. Combining elaborately designed
digital artwork, giclée printing, and acrylic paint he creates
otherworldly entities and structures that beg for exploration. Stories
of god and self underlie many of his pieces as he deals with questions
of society, consciousness, reality, and religion.
Meghann McCrory
Originally from New Mexico, Meghann McCrory lives and works in Los Angeles.
Through photography and video installation, she investigates the psychological
and cultural consequences of the world we create. Much of her
recent body of work incorporates the use of miniature architectural
landscapes that she builds and then documents using different methods
to represent and explore these fictional places. As a body of
work the images begin to describe a larger world that is indefinite,
dislocating, and uncertain, an anxious place of disorienting relationships
and ambiguous conclusions.
Michael Rababy
Michael Rababy likes taking pictures of people. He's not interested
in perfection, rather the fleeting moments of genuine, unguarded human
expression. Influenced by French humanists and street photographers,
his first book "American Bachelor" is an ethnographic study
of the highs and lows of bachelor life. He continues shooting
from the hip with "night people" - a collection of images
from a forthcoming book of the same title. Rababy lives in Southern
California with his record collection and is currently at work on his
latest masterpiece.
Moti
Moti creates framed artwork that is multi layered with traditional and
digital mixtures of figures and geometry. His work holds a perspective
between yin and yang, organic and inorganic, micro and the macro, traditional
versus digital, mechanical versus fluidity, or ancient versus futuristic.
You might find yourself caught in any of these dimensions as you explore
the work of Moti Scotti. A visual pleasing journey at the surface,
or dig a little deeper for a multi layered exploration of your own consciousness.
Patrick Haemmerlein
Starting with photography a few years back, Haemmerlein was shooting
everything dirty Hollywood had to offer - the homeless characters, the
endless city scenes, the urban decay, and the trash. While working on
building his own collection of stock urban imagery, he began dragging
home cardboard and abandoned junk, and another marriage of mediums began.
Haemmerlein combines extensive photography and obsessive collaging to
produce a body of work that celebrates Truth!
Haemmerlein explains his latest exhibit, “The car portrait series
began oddly enough not about the cars - but about the panoramic views
and urban dynamics of Los Angeles. The designs are created entirely
of my own photographs, mostly taken from the seat of my car. So every
bird, piece of dirt, palm tree and city scene has been isolated from
a photo that I’ve taken during the five years I’ve lived
here. As for the vehicles - I seem to search out cars from my childhood
- the bigger the better and more gas guzzling the better… they
almost resemble dinosaurs from a past age……. dying American
icons ... as for the tanks and the messages - they're based on more
current events.”
Rebecca Farr
The narrative paintings of Rebecca Farr explore how identity manifests
when out of context. She researches historic migration stories
for what is claimed, sustained, exiled and desired when a community
moves. Motivated by the meeting ground of ideal and real experiences
of home, she explores the environmental, political and social pressures
that cause migration to occur. A recent transplant to Los Angeles
from the Northwest, Farr studied painting and drawing at The Evergreen
State College and The Academy of Realist Art.

Thomas Anthony Ramey
Thomas Anthony Ramey is a metal artist who specializes in architectural
work who began working with metal in high school, as an apprentice for
an Indy 500 race team. After walking away from metalwork and art to
pursue a career in music, Ramey returned in the late 90’s while
living in Cleveland, Ohio. Since that time, he has been non-stop working
on such projects as the restoration of Francis Ford Coppala’s
mothers house in Lake Forest, Illinois, to celebrity beach houses in
Malibu, CA for actress Christa Miller and producer Kevin Bright.
Ramey was also a supporting cast member on a Discovery Channel original
series show called “Wingnuts,” which aired in the fall season
of 2004. In 2005 he also appeared in an episode of Discovery Channels’
“Monster House” as well as work in the Cat Club on
the Sunset Strip. Ramey has been running his own design studio since
2001 called, “Essentials in Steel.” The studio has
been located in such places as the Historical Stutz Automotive factory
in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Chicago and now Los Angeles. Ramey considers
himself more of a custom architectural fabricator than an artist.
He has shown his sculpture work in many art shows from Cleveland, Ohio
to Indianapolis, Chicago and Los Angeles.
Ty Bennett
Ty Bennett is a self-taught artist who lives and works in Oceanside,
California. He started doing underground art shows in the 80’s.
Influences at that time included Dali, Ingmar Bergman, Gurdjieff, James
Joyce and Nurse with Wound, (some of which can still be seen).
Since those early days of experimentation he has continued to push the
limits of diversification in art. Mixing styles and making old styles
something completely his own, he manages to infuse his artwork with
personal images that boarder on an esoteric, collective, mythology.
Vanesa Martinelli
Vanesa Martinelli was born in Argentina. She studied in different studios
since she was 4 years old. She got a Fine Art degree from the Cordoba
Fine Art University. She traveled to Europe and she studied the
Masters at El Prado Museum in Madrid while she was exhibiting in Barcelona.

States.
Yun Bai
Yun Bai was born in Beijing, China (1979) and migrated with her parents
to the United States at age five. Bai sees the world as her medium,
thus exploring with porn magazines, ping-pong balls, and machetes, beside
traditional mediums (oil paints, watercolors, etc). Identity, social
experiments and stereotypes, playfulness/mockery, feminism, scientific
references, and today's street culture are reoccurring elements found
in her work.
She graduated from Agnes Scott College, a private women's college in
Atlanta, Georgia in 2001. She has shown both nationally and internationally,
and has been reviewed by the Atlanta Journal Constitution, ART PAPERS
Magazine, Pittsburgh Pulp, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Pittsburgh City
Paper, Creative Loafing Atlanta, Art Asia Pacific, recognized as one
of LA Weekly's top 10 Emerging Artists (2006), and recently selected
for New American Paintings Pacific Edition. Yun Bai is represented
by Bert Green Fine Art.

Brian Tortora
Brian Tortora is known for transforming familiar objects into sonic
percussive instruments and inviting participants to get actively involved
in rhythmically crushing his sculptures in their own symphony. Using
found industrial garbage; his sculptures become the catalyst for change
in both the object and the participant. The strike of a hammer upon
metal, wood and stone brings forth a force that speeds the process of
dematerialization in a howl of cold forging. As one participant hands
the baton to another, the music continues in a perpetual wheel of sound
drawing more participants to seek out and express their boundaries.
HIT+RUN
Screenprinted images on clothing are a familiar sight, yet the process
remains a mystery to most. HIT+RUN was conceived in 2005 by Southern
California natives Mike Crivello and Brandy Flower to bring live T-shirt
screen-printing to the public. Attendees can customize shirts
with their own combination and placement of exclusive designs. The screens
are only available during the one-night events, turning each shirt into
a limited-edition piece of wearable art. Red Stripe Beer, Stones Throw
Records, dublab, Saatchi+Saatchi, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Urban Outfitters,
Stuff Magazine, Cornerstone, Create:Fixate, Geffen Records, Little Radio
and Filter Magazine have all hosted HIT & RUN events.
Linda Carmella Sibio
Linda Carmella Sibio, a painter and performance artist, will be doing
a version of her popular “Portrait-A-Thon.” She began
her artistic career painting and drawing, creating both large-scale
works and intimate pieces. While in college, during the late ‘70’s,
she was diagnosed with Schizophrenia. Unlike her institutionalized
mother who eventually committed suicide, Sibio found art to be a magnificent
way to cope with her hellish disability. She founded The Cracked
Eggs, a multidisciplinary performance art troupe comprised of emotional,
behavioral and mentally disabled adults and teens and also founded Bezerk
Productions, a non-profit dedicated to mainstreaming the art of mentally
disabled people as well as providing art educational services to this
population.
Mear One
Educated on the streets of Los Angeles, Mear One is a self-taught painter
with a professional art career that spans over fifteen years. Mear has
achieved legendary status among the urban/graffiti art circle and been
recognized as an international art sensation. His raw, vibrant
style catches the eye with its colorful intricacy and ensnares the mind
with its deep, intriguing messages.
Formerly a member of the revered CBS graffiti crew and a disciple of
the late Skate One (Sk8), Mear has credibility in the underground graffiti
scene. And with shows at locations like the Los Angeles County Museum
of Art, the Laguna Fine Art Museum, and The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,
he has gained credibility in the gallery setting as well.

KarmaKulture by Trace Palmer
After winning a green card in the lottery, Trace Palmer immigrated to
the United States in 1996 from Belfast, Ireland. While living in Eugene,
Oregon, she was inspired by the art of glass blowing. Palmer began experimenting
with the glass medium to create her own self-taught style. She combines
original glass jewels with designed necklaces crafted with materials
such as suede, leather and sterling silver. Her KarmaKulture line also
includes enchanting rings and earrings. Palmer’s unique organic,
glass jewels are her interpretation of the ultimate beauty in nature.
She feels the watery, flowing plant-like designs express the great mystical
energy in the universe, man's connection to the earth and the oneness
of all things. Her designs can be seen worn by Sharon Stone in
"Cold Creek Manor" and Lisa Kudrow in "Friends."

and play music that has substance, something interesting within the
music, some unique sound, hook, break, beat, horn, rhythm that can stand
the test of time. So whether he's playing house, downbeat or breaks
it will always be something worthwhile. Currently Caparro can be found
at the AC Supper Club in Venice where he plays along side Wiseacre with
their bi-weekly Thursday night party, Funky In The Middle.
Ian Buell (Optimistic Music)
Ian Buell is what many would label as a passionate, hard working underground
DJ. Eclectic by nature, his style takes many twists and turns
into various tastes of dub, drum ‘n’ bass, down-tempo and
house. Mr. Buell resides in L.A. after moving three years ago
from the North Bay area to pursue his passion and attend The Los Angeles
Recording School in Hollywood. Currently producing now as
an audio engineer, Mr. Buell continues to spin relentlessly around town
residing at Respect drum ‘n’ bass, Electric Lotus and Tantalum
on the weekly (www.optimisticmusic.com <http://www.optimisticmusic.com>
